About

Gin Ah Lim carries on a long family tradition of musical excellence. Her grandmother and grandfather were both classical musicians. Her mother, a pianist, and her two sisters, pianist and cellist, are all active performers and sought-after teachers. Gin Ah started violin at age 7 and immediately discovered her lifelong vocation. She attended performing arts school in Seoul, Korea and later earned a full scholarship for violin performance at Temple University in Philadelphia. After graduating, she opened a music school with her mother and sisters to provide the very best in private music instruction. Over the course of 25 years, the JC Music School inspired excellence and appreciation of the classical music tradition in over 800 students, several of whom went on to professional success. Outside of her own studio, Gin Ah established a superb reputation in the Philadelphia professional music community as both teacher and performer. Recognized for her technical mastery, thorough knowledge of repertoire, remarkable sight-reading, and innate ability to bring out the best in players of all levels, Gin Ah held faculty positions at the top schools in the city—The Settlement School, The Philadelphia School, Shipley School, and Archbishop Prendergast High School to name a few—while performing on a constant basis in prestigious events and venues across the region. Since relocating to Lafayette, Colorado, Gin Ah has been a core member of the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, Boulder Symphony Orchestra and Centennial Ballet Orchestra as well as a guest performer in numerous local chamber music groups. Gin Ah teaches traditional and Suzuki methods for all ages and levels. She also plays and teaches viola and piano. Her experience as a pre-school teacher after graduating from college gives her a rare talent for early education and developmental learning. Her teaching philosophy is to have fun while learning. She approaches each lesson with dedication and sincerity, teaching students music skills that instill the confidence to succeed and a sense of beauty to enrich their lives and love ones.
